Japan and the United States have reached a trade agreement, and Abe told reporters he believed it would allow Japan’s economy to grow without harming U.S. industry. “I think it’s necessary to continue to work with a resolve that we will achieve our mutual goal and that we can advance it,” Abe said. “It’s important that we send a strong signal that we don’t intend to pursue a trade war in any way. We need to cooperate with each other in a cooperative and free way.” The Commerce Department found that several Japanese companies had dumped solar panels on U.S. markets between 2011 and 2013 at the expense of domestic producers.
